NCSD Congenital Syphilis Workshop Series

Congenital syphilis rates have skyrocketed in recent years, leading many jurisdictions to institute new programs and protocols to address this troubling trend. With no easy, one-off solution, bringing together diverse perspectives for peer-to-peer discussion and information sharing is critical. NCSD is hosting a series of workshops on CS to highlight some of the innovative approaches jurisdictions are taking to combat these increasing numbers and create space for community action planning and problem solving.

January 20: Increasing Rates of Congenital Syphilis: Overall Trends and Themes

January 25: Surveillance, Case Review, and Data-Driven Approaches to Congenital Syphilis
In this session, Texas will speak to their robust surveillance system and case review boards and New York City will share their data-driven approach to using and assigning Congenital Syphilis Prevention Investigators. These two jurisdictions will dive into how surveillance, case review boards, and field services go hand in hand to address CS from all angles.

February 2: Innovative Testing and Treatment Programs
We often hear about missed opportunities in screening, diagnosis, and treatment when it comes to congenital syphilis. However, Los Angeles has gotten creative with testing and treatment in non-traditional settings and will share case studies that highlight their approach. Additionally, Louisiana will showcase their innovative Bicillin delivery programs. And since we know rapid syphilis tests are instrumental to timely diagnosis, particularly in non-traditional settings, Diagnostics Direct will discuss their Syphilis Health Check test and offer a free supply to select jurisdictions.

Limited to 300 participants.
